Canon 1000D - A year under the sea.

Did you ever wonder how a Canon 1000D would look after left on the bottom of the sea for a year? Markus Thompson found one during a diving trip (for a biological survey). Save to save that the camera no longer functions. But the SanDisk Extreme III memory card did survive!

Markus recovered about 50 photos which appeared top be of a family on their holiday. Markus found that the owner was a fire fighter from British Columbia whose team won the Pacific Regional Firefit competition, has a lovely wife and (now) 2 year old daughter.

The diver contacted Canon to found out who the owner was based on the serial number of the camera. Since the camera wasn't registered, Markus posted the story on his Google+ account. Before long a woman recognized her co-worker in the story and the photos are now reunited with the photographer.

I came across this by chance but what a story and it does prove just how good Aandisk cards are, I can not see that if there had been a cheaper card in there that the photos would of been recovered.
