The Lensbaby for Canon is an EF mount lens so can be used on both full frame cameras (digital or film) and APS-C cameras. The lens is little difficult to get used to but once your used to its fairly quick to use.
In the box you get a number of different metal rings to make up the different apertures of f2.8,f4,f5.6 and f8 as well as a fabric case for the lens.
mama?
Congratulations
It's a Lensbaby
Thats the text cover on the instruction.
Which gives hints and tips on how to use the lens.
The recommended way to hold the camera and lens is with both thumbs at the back of the camera, 2nd and 3rd finger on the front of the lens with your left hand and 2nd on the right hand. This allows you to easily focus the lens.
To focus you squeeze the lens till it is in focus at one point, you can then tilt the Lensbaby in anyway to change the focus spot.
Other tips include:
- To focus on subjects close than 18"(45.7cm) you need to push the lens forward.
- The size of the sweat spot depends on the the aperture (diagram in booklet).
Well I have only been using the lens for a few hours but I will post a few photos from it.
Whilst the images are only from the first day of the lens being used I am very happy with the purchase. I think the aesthetic quality of the images is very high due to the plastic optics and tilt focusing. However the optical quality of the image is still very high for a plastic lens.
I would defiantly regard this a must buy for anyone who likes the effect and or to just be able to do something a bit different with their photography. There is also the option to buy creative aperture kits from the lensbaby website: http://www.lensbaby.com/.
There are two options which are pre-cut shapes including: A star, birds, a love heart and six other shapes or patterns. The other options is for ten blank apeture plates in which you can cut any shape you like.
